Yoenis Cespedes now showing off his customized tricycle (pics)
One of the biggest non-baseball-centric stories so far in spring training is without a doubt the attention being garnered by New York Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes, mostly stemming from how he spent nearly a week arriving at Tradition Field in one high-priced vehicle after another from his apparent fleet of luxury automobiles.
While it appears that Cespedes has elected to tone things down a bit on custom car front — presumably in part because of Mets skipper Terry Collins declaring that “fun time is over” — that does not mean he refrained from showing off one of the more interesting rides from his collection of conveyances.
While Cespedes apparently has stated he won’t be riding it to spring training in presumable deference to Collins’ request — the slugger recently showcased a customized, tricked-out …. tricycle.

The story goes according to a TMZ report that a Mets staffer discovered that she had the same model of tricycle that Cespedes used as his only means of transportation while growing up in Cuba. So she took the trike to Alex Vega at The Auto Firm in Miami — who has done a majority of the customizing on Cespedes’ spring training rides — and had him work his magic on it so it would resemble Cespedes’ customized Jeep Wrangler.

As a sign of gratitude for her thoughtful act, Cespedes arranged for Vega to do some work on the Mets staffer’s car, all on his dime.
Everybody wins.
