Jose Bautista’s bat flip makes cut in ‘MLB The Show 16’ (vids)

As video game designers and programmers are wont to do from time to time, the brainiacs behind “MLB The Show 16” have featured Jose Bautista’s now-iconic bat flip in the gameplay.

The slugger became a fixture in Major League Baseball postseason lore  — and a Canadian baseball icon — with his three-run homer in one of the craziest innings of baseball ever played during the Toronto Blue Jays’ miraculous 6-3 win over the Texas Rangers in Game 5 of the teams’ ALDS showdown. But what made the round-tripper so iconic is how the slugger pulled off perhaps the most epic bat flip in MLB history before he began his triumphant trot around the bases.

And now, not only has it been immortalized in tattoo form, it has been preserved for perpetuity in a video game (by way of Busted Coverage):

With the Blue Jays and Bautista reportedly butting heads over a new deal, this might be the slugger’s last season in Toronto. At least he’ll have “MLB The Show 16” to help him remember his time there.
