Vontaze Burfict’s team of choice on ‘Madden’ is … the Steelers?

It would seem counterintuitive at best, but Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict, a frequent antagonist of the Pittsburgh Steelers — to put it mildly — offered up a tweet that proves he does have some affinity for the AFC North division rival. At least when it comes to video games.

Burfict took to Twitter to show how he is playing as the Steelers in a recent game of “Madden.”

As noted by ESPN’s Coley Harvey, Bengals linebacker Marquis Flowers reacted to the revelation by tweeting back at Burfict, “You crazy as hell bruh.”

Burfict long has been considered Public Enemy No. 1 by the Steelers, mostly stemming from how he seemingly plays relatively fast and loose when it comes to abiding by the rules of the game. Multiple Steelers players have accused him of a multitude of egregious offenses, including Ben Roethlisberger and Ramon Foster.

He also was flagged for hitting Steelers wideout Antonio Brown high during the Bengals’ playoff loss to the Steelers earlier this month, causing a concussion that kept Brown out of the next week’s game against the Denver Broncos.

He also stated ahead of the Bengals’ playoff showdown with the Steelers his lack of love for the rival by bluntly stating, “I hate Pittsburgh.”

But it’s clear that his hatred for the Steelers doesn’t transfer over to the virtual, video game-playing world. To be fair, though, in light of Cincinnati’s abysmal playoff-win drought of the last several years, it makes perfect — albeit ironic — sense for Burfict to pick the Steelers over his own team if he wants his “Madden” squad to enjoy any postseason success.
