Is Ronda Rousey appearing in a Super Bowl ad with Amy Schumer?
When photos surfaced earlier this week of Ronda Rousey and Amy Schumer, it was speculated that the former UFC champ had replaced Jennifer Lawrence as the comedian’s latest and newest best friend.
Schumer herself posted the photograph of the two hanging out.
While that may indeed the case, there appears to be an additional reason for the significant show of star power. Photos published by the Daily Mail appear to confirm that the two — along with Seth Rogen — were filming a commercial for Bud Light Platinum in Los Angeles, presumably for a possible spot in the obscenely expensive ad rotation during Super Bowl 50.
Some of the many photos featured in the Daily Mail’s report show Schumer and Rousey holding bottles of the aforementioned beer brand before Rogen makes an appearance, only to be put into a headlock by Rousey.
It certainly appears that an enjoyable time was had by all. Whether that translates into a classic Super Bowl ad won’t be determined until it airs on Feb. 7 during the 50th installment of the “Big Game.”
Rousey of course has been one of the biggest breakout stars of the UFC and has made significant inroads in Hollywood, including reprising Patrick Swayze’s iconic role in the upcoming “Road House” remake. Starring in a commercial that in all likelihood will air during Super Bowl 50 only further enhances her profile.
Her career in the Octagon, meanwhile, appears to be on hold due to the movie as well as Rousey has needed time to recover physically and emotionally from her devastating loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193.
