Brent Grimes discusses wife’s disparaging Ryan Tannehill comments
Brent Grimes said he and Ryan Tannehill have cleared the air over the disparaging remarks his wife made about the Miami Dolphins quarterback, but stopped short of criticizing what she said when provided an opportunity to do so.
The Dolphins cornerback spoke to the media for the first time Wednesday since wife Miko slammed Tannehill in a series of profane tweets following last Sunday’s 18-12 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, remarks that included the argument that Tanehill “stunk,” among even more unsavory musings.
Tannehill has indicated Grimes apologized to him over his wife’s Twitter tirade, but during Wednesday’s discussion with reporters, Grimes took a neutral stance concerning what she said.
“My wife’s opinions are her opinions,” Grimes said, via an AP report. “They’re not my opinions. I really don’t understand why you ask me about my wife’s opinions. It’s not mine.
Grimes was asked to provide his opinion of Tannehill. Calling him “our quarterback,” Grimes added, “That’s my guy and that’s my teammate.”
Tannehill, meanwhile, attempting to downplay the entire situation, lamenting that it caused a “distraction.” “I’ve heard what she said, and I really don’t want to give it the time of day,” he said. “It doesn’t affect what I think about myself, the way I go about by business and prepare to win games. The saddest part about this whole thing is we have to answer questions about it, and it’s becoming a distraction to this organization. Other than that, it’s just business as usual. Nothing has changed for me.”Grimes further attempted to argue the entire issue was a media thing and it didn’t have any impact on the team.”You can see I don’t have a problem in the locker room,” he said. “I talked to people, and it’s not a problem. I talked to Ryan, and there’s no problem.”Maybe so, but it’s certainly not a good look when a teammate’s wife brutally slams the quarterback for all the world to see. All told, the entire incident was yet another ugly aspect of an ugly Dolphins season.
