Rory McIlroy vs. Jordan Spieth in a wrestling match: Who ya got?

Rory McIlroy participated in a Q&A from Facebook headquarters in Dublin this week in which he responded to questions from his fans. Among the topics the No. 3 golfer in the world addressed were his favorite golf movie between “Caddyshack” and “Happy Gilmore” (the latter) and other random topics.

But one question that elicited the most amusing answer was how a fan apparently asked McIlroy who would win in a wrestling match: Him or Jordan Spieth, the No. 1 golfer in the world.

“Who would win a wrestling match, me or Jordan Spieth? Me obviously,” he said. “[Spieth] might win the putting competition, though.”

Thanking my 1m fans!

Without engaging in a tale-of-the-tape analysis, it’s hard to say who would actually win between McIlroy and Spieth if it came right down to it. But there’s something that suggests McIlroy may have an edge. Although there’s no legitimate reason behind that suspicion.

It would be an interesting way, though, to settle the superstars’ rivalry, although both have gone to great lengths to downplay the notion that a rivalry exists between them.

But McIlroy is right when he says Spieth could out-putt him. That guy is lethal with the blade.

The big news related to McIlroy over the past few weeks was his engagement to girlfriend Erica Stoll. He also was named European Player of the Year for the third time, but that’s small time when compared to his off-the-course activities.
