Minnesota Wild create fantastic Star Wars tribute (video)

With “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” set to wreak historic havoc at the box office over the weekend, the Minnesota Wild created a fantastic video to pay tribute to the beloved space opera.

Beginning of course with “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away,” the video opens with “Minnesota Wild” in the iconic Star Wars logo before beginning the tale with the patented opening crawl that opens the tale of “Episode I: The Fury of the Wild.”

The intro involves mentions of “Darth Lundqvist” — a nod to Thursday night’s opponent, the New York Rangers (or the “Empire State Rangers, as they are referred to in the crawl) — and their “talented Sith goalie” and so on and so forth.

From there, we get sticks as lightsabers and pucks flying into the back of the net as if they were blaster shots.

Not only timely, but brilliantly done. Bravo.

On the ice, the Wild is surging, beating the Rangers by a score of 5-2 to extend its point streak to nine games (6-0-3). One could almost say the Force … forget it.
