Russell Wilson jokes his dogs are mad at him over two-INT game (pic)
Russell Wilson threw two interceptions during the Seattle Seahawks’ 20-3 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night and it apparently irritated his two dogs, the quarterback joked on social media.
“Dad… Really? 2 picks?” Wilson wrote on Instagram, adding the hashtags #FantasyKiller and #HawksWin.
Other than the interceptions, Wilson otherwise played a solid game, going 18-for-24 for 235 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed the ball seven times for 22 yards.
Coming out with a victory made it easier for Wilson to make light of the two picks, but Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll wasn’t in such a joking mood, especially concerning Wilson’s second interception, which came on a risky deep pass to Jermaine Kearse.
“I was really disappointed in the long ball,” Carroll said. “That’s too bad. We don’t need to do that. He thought he had something. We don’t need to throw the ball up like that.”
Wilson, meanwhile, didn’t appear overly concerned about the mistake.
“We had a deep play. Jermaine and I kind of got confused a little bit,” he said. “I think he thought I was scrambling, so I was trying to get him a shot, and we were off on the timing of the original play, I felt like. So I was trying to give him a shot. I put it up in the air, and it’s OK. It’s one of those things, a long punt I guess. We don’t want that to happen, but just stay the course. The cool thing is giving those guys a chance. I trust those guys to make those plays. I put it a little too far, but just giving those guys a chance, that’s the key. We’ve got to be in attack mode, and I’m not going to shy away from that.”
In other words, from Wilson’s perspective, it’s not like his picks means his quarterback play is going to the dogs … in a manner of speaking.
