Jose Bautista loves Blue Jays fan’s bat flip tattoo (pic)


Jose Bautista has seen a lot of “crazy things” since the Toronto Blue Jays punched their ticket for the ALCS. But a tattoo of his epic bat flip? That takes the cake.

Bautista became a fixture in Major League Baseball postseason lore with his three-run homer in one of the craziest innings of baseball ever during the Blue Jays’ miraculous 6-3 win over the Texas Rangers in Game 5 of the teams’ ALDS showdown. But what made the round-tripper so iconic is how the slugger pulled off perhaps the most epic bat flip in MLB history before he began his triumphant trot around the bases.

Tattoo artist Scoot Mason posted an image to Instagram documenting how one Blue Jays fan took his appreciation of the celebratory moment to the next level: By getting it inked into his skin.

Bautista caught wind of the tattoo tribute, and seemed genuinely blown away by it.

“I have heard and seen some crazy stuff in the last 24 hours but this one takes the prize,” Bautista wrote in an Instagram post featuring an image the tattoo.

Ain’t that the truth.

Generally speaking, sports-related tattoos are rife with risk, especially when the ink is making some kind of boastful and premature prediction of championship glory (see this guy and this guy and this guy and this guy and this guy and this guy).

But this tattoo simply celebrates an incredible moment, not some future success, so it definitely gets a pass. Although it would probably sting a bit — even more than actually getting the tattoo — should the Blue Jays get quickly bounced from the postseason by the Kansas City Royals…
