Odell Beckham Jr. breaks down new ‘Hit Dem Folks’ TD dance
Odell Beckam Jr. broke out a new touchdown dance Thursday night during the New York Giants’ 32-21 victory over the Washington Redskins. The dynamic wide receiver explained the dandy new moves he demonstrated following his 30-yard touchdown reception after the game.
“It was nothing, man. I’m just out there having fun. It’s called ‘Hit dem folks.’ It just a little dance they created in Atlanta,” he said. “Always bringing something new. Yeah man, that is all it is.”

As noted in the NJ.com article, Beckham paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo on his first TD catch in last week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Further, he isn’t even the first NFL player to bust out the “Hit Dem Folks” move. That goes to Carolina Panthers signal-caller Cam Newton, who debuted the move after scoring an acrobatic, front-flip rushing touchdown last Sunday.
During his star-making rookie season, Beckham routinely busted out “The Whip” or alternatively “The Nae Nae.” He’s clearly on to bigger and better and newer moves this season. While it certainly has the flair and flashiness of teammate Victor Cruz’s salsa dance, it remains to be seen if the “Hit Dem Folks” has similar staying power. Or if Beckham simply will move on and add yet another move to his increasing touchdown celebration dance move repertoire.
In the end, while it may seem silly to staunch traditionalists that players spend so much time planning their choreography for touchdown celebrations — these folks approve of how NFL icon Barry Sanders “celebrated” a touchdown …. by handing the ball to an official and nothing else — it appears the over-the-top post-scoring antics are here to stay.
