LeBron James got up early to strive for greatness, just so you know (pic)

There is no question that LeBron James works diligently and extremely hard to be the best basketball player he can be. But the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar’s post to Instagram Friday morning in which he points out that he got up early — for him, at least — to continue his quest for greatness comes across as somewhat amusing. After all, James essentially bragging he was up and out the door even before sunrise, which was at approximately 7:17 a.m. in Ohio.

The post, which came a little before 6:00 a.m., features James proclaiming, “It’s that time! Time to punch that clock in,” along with his familiar hashtag, #StriveForGreatness, along with #YeahIKnowItsStillDarkOutside.

“Up early man, it’s time to go get that work,” James says in the video. “You know, me not working hard would never not be the case. It’s all about striving for greatness. Gotta go put that work in, punch that clock.”

Double negative aside, James obviously deserves credit for being an early riser — after all, he probably could have slept in until noon or whatever Friday — but in a cynical sense, is it really all that uncommon for a person to be awake at that time of the morning to prepare for the coming day? Not really.
