With Troy Polamalu riding off into the retirement sunset, Procter & Gamble need a new face — er, hair — to be the NFL representative of Head & Shoulders. Given the fascination with his hair, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was a perfect fit.

“I don’t think my hair is as good as Troy’s,” Beckham, who rocks a unique two-toned, black-and-blonde look, told ESPN.com. “But hopefully I can one day live up to his reputation.”

Procter & Gamble unveiled its new campaign featuring Beckham which is much more serious in tone than the humorous nature of those starring Polamalu in the seven years he represented Head & Shoulders.

Instead, the spot touts Beckham’s rapid ascension to superstardom thanks to a phenomenal rookie campaign. The ad finishes with the line, “Shoulders were made for greatness. Not for dandruff.”

The Giants second-year wideout is not only a rising star in the NFL but a hot commodity in the marketing world, landing on the cover of “Madden 16” and a deal with Nike. He also stars in a commercial for Foot Locker. ESPN’s Darren Rovell reports Beckham has many other partnerships with up-and-coming brands as well.

“It has been a crazy offseason, and I feel really blessed and fortunate to do the things I have done,” he said.

Let’s just hope he handles things better this time around if his teammates decide to give him a little grief over his new gig compared to how he reacted when they hassled him over a recurring hamstring injury. Let’s just say it would be far better if Beckham demonstrates he can keep a level head … on his shoulders.
