Dez Bryant gets rock star treatment, lands on cover of Rolling Stone (pic)
Dez Bryant without a doubt is one of the most provocative and unpredictable players in the NFL, so perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise that Rolling Stone tabbed the fiery Dallas Cowboys wide receiver/pro football rock star to grace the cover of their “NFL Special” issue.
Not only did he land on the cover of the estimable magazine, Bryant is also the subject of a profile entitled, “The Trials and Triumph of Dez Bryant.” The date of the issue reads Sept. 10, 2015, so it should be on the shelves soon enough.
Bryant let the cat out of the bag with a post to Instagram on Tuesday in which he’s holding a copy of himself on the magazine’s cover along with the message, “I’m blessed and no one in this world can take that away from me… I wouldn’t change a inch of me for the world… God wanted me this way.. so I embrace it and try to be a strong example for the ones who struggle and think it’s never a way….thank you @rollingstone for sharing the real Dez Bryant.”
The Cowboys wide receiver frequently serves as a lightning rod for some issue or another, whether it’s his wild sideline outbursts, his sometimes provocative and often questionable social media activities or getting into a fight with a teammate during training camp (or getting involved in joint practice brouhahas), so he’s definitely a worthy subject of an extensive profile.
It is sure to be an enlightening read for Cowboys fans, not to mention anyone interested in seeing what makes a professional athlete as talented and controversial as Bryant tick. Given that the opportunity to grace the cover of Rolling Stone typically is afforded to only the biggest names in pop culture, music, politics and sport, it’s safe to say not only is Bryant a rising star, he may have already arrived.
