Rex Ryan keeps his word, eats dog biscuit for charity (video)
Rex Ryan clearly is a man of his word as the Buffalo Bills head coach kept an unappetizing promise he made earlier this week by eating a dog biscuit on Thursday in front of the media.
Ryan was put on the spot on Wednesday by reporters from Buffalo’s WIVB and WGRZ as part of a charitable drive where funds are raised by folks downing doggie treats.
The boisterous and affable Ryan jokingly pointed out in response to the challenge that the notion of him eating a dog biscuit actually makes a lot of sense.
“With the name ‘Rex,’ obviously I’ve eaten a lot of dog biscuits in my day,” Ryan said, via a Buffalo News report. “That’s no problem. I accept the challenge. I will do it [Thursday]. And the person that I’m going to challenge is going to be big. I’m not going to tell you who that is until tomorrow. So let’s just hang on. I want to make sure you guys are here for the press conference tomorrow. But I thought it was kind of funny when I got challenged by this person so I was like ‘Alright, let’s do it. It’s on.’ It has to be one of those small biscuits because of the lap band (surgery).”
And accept the challenge he did.
Team owner Terry Pegula followed Ryan’s Labrador-like lead and apparently feasted upon a biscuit as well. Gross but for a good cause.
The campaign, sponsored by Erie County chapter of the SPCA, seeks to raise awareness about animal cruelty.
“We’re raising money for our Paws in the Park fundraiser, which is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” [SPCA Executive Director Barbara] Carr said, via WIVB (by way of For the Win). “And we thought this year we would challenge our friends to donate to the cause, eat a biscuit or both.”
Let the dog biscuit-eating challenge craze commence. Eat up, folks.
