Jonathan Toews runs into Blackhawks fan while hiking in Peru (photo)
Jonathan Toews decided to get away for some R&R after the Chicago Blackhawks’ grueling but rewarding run to another Stanley Cup title by taking a hiking vacation in Peru. Who would have thought he would run into one of the team’s fans so far away from Chi-Town?
But that’s what happened when Ryan Adorjan ran into his “hockey hero” while hiking around the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu.
Adjorjan, of Oswego, Ill., who is studying Spanish in Peru, says he recognized Toews but didn’t approach him at first. But after rounding back to take a gander at the ruins one more time and seeing the Blackhawks captain once again, he decided he just had to say something.
Adjorjan said the Toews was “humble, genuine,” during their encounter, but mostly was taken aback a bit that he couldn’t remain some semblance of anonymity in Peru, of all places.
“He was just happy to meet us. He was asking more questions about us and our lives than we were about him,” said Adorjan.
The two posed for a photograph with the ruins in the background along with another unidentified man.

Only in Peru. Or something.
