Jordan Spieth, girlfriend head to Bahamas to celebrate U.S. Open win (pic)
Jordan Spieth was not among the many big names in the field at the Travelers Championship over the weekend, and it’s not because he missed the cut. Instead of competing in a tournament the week after his impressive triumph at the U.S. Open on the impossibly exasperating course that was Chambers Bay — his eighth tournament in 11 weeks — the 21-year-old instead opted to take some time to recover and decompress by heading to the Bahamas for some R&R with longtime girlfriend Annie Verret.
Spieth took to social media on Sunday to post a photograph of himself, Verret (second from the right) and some pals having a grand old time while yachting.
The post on Instagram featured a simple and straight-to-the-point message, the hashtag, “#Bahamas.” There’s really not much more that needs to be said.
Spieth, halfway home to accomplishing the unlikely feat of completing the Grand Slam after winning the Masters and U.S. Open, must have taken a page from fellow young superstar Rickie Fowler when deciding how to best enjoy his post-victory revelry and relaxation, as Fowler similarly headed to the Bahamas with his girlfriend, Alexis Randock, after notching a huge victory at The PLAYERS Championship in May.
Spieth will next play in the John Deere Classic, beginning July 9, before he jets across the pond for the British Open (or Open Championship to the Europeans) at St. Andrews in a bid to amazingly accomplish 3/4 of the Grand Slam. Perhaps the relaxing trip to the Bahamas with his longtime love will be just enough relaxation to put him in the right state of mind to do just that.
