Ricky Rubio welcomes Karl-Anthony Towns, tells him to pick up dry cleaning

The Minnesota Timberwolves made the selection near-universally expected with the first pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, tabbing Kentucky standout Karl-Anthony Towns as the latest young talent on a roster already loaded with youth and potential. T’Wolves point guard Ricky Rubio welcomed the 19-year-old big man to the organization by cracking wise on Twitter and jokingly indicating that Towns will have some additional responsibilities as a rookie beyond his work on the court.

Rubio also took to Instagram to welcome Towns to Minnesota in a (hopefully) less jokey manner when compared to his tweet.

“Welcome to the pack big fella @karltowns #OneHungryPack,” Rubio wrote.

Towns says he is looking forward to playing with Rubio — but probably not serving as his dry cleaning gofer — calling him “one of the best pass-first point guards in the league.”

With the addition of Towns — not to mention landing Minnesota native Tyus Jones later in the draft — the Timberwolves boast one of the most dynamic, albeit young and inexperienced, rosters in the NBA. Between Towns, Jones, Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, Shabazz Muhammad, among others, along with Rubio and NBA elder statesman Kevin Garnett teaching the kids the ropes, the Wolves arguably are a team that at long last may be on the rise … and one loaded with young players hopefully eager to run errands for the veterans.
