Fan smashed in face by Hank Conger’s home run ball, glasses go flying (video)
Houston Astros catcher Hank Conger hit his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot in the fifth inning that wrapped up all the scoring in the team’s 8-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
While Conger’s round-tripper proved damaging to the Rockies’ hopes of getting back into the game, the actual ball he hit out of the park did much more harm to the face — and glasses — of a fan who presumably believed he was about to catch himself a souvenir.
With his arms outstretched as the ball descended downward towards him, the coveted prize somehow eluded his reaching hands, going right between them and smashing him in the face with such force his glasses were sent flying.
Ouch. That’s gotta hurt.
No word on whether or not the poor fella eventually was given the ball as a reward for his pain and suffering, but let’s hope he got something out of that ugly-looking scene.
