Miguel Angel Jimenez explains how wife keeps him young in hilarious fashion

Miguel Angel Jimenez goes by the moniker, “The Most Interesting Man in Golf, ” and for all intents and purposes, it’s a more than suitable nickname. From his devil-may-care demeanor, his ponytail, his love of fine wine and good cigars — sometimes even at the same time while stalking the driving range (true story), the 51-year-old Spaniard is the embodiment of living life well.

In May of last year, Jimenez wedded his second wife Susanna Styblo, 10 years his junior, in a lavish affair Spain. His newlywed life was a topic of conversation during a hilarious and compelling interview with Sports Illustrated’s Alan Shipnuck that is well worth a read.

One passage of the interview in particular paints the devilish golfer in hues befitting a man of Jimenez’s reputation.

The golfer discusses how he and Styblo met at a tournament in her native Austria in 2011.

“She was on the course watching the golf, and she followed us for eight holes,” Jiménez says. “At one point I leaned over and said to my caddie, ‘I see a beautiful blonde over there, wearing nice pants with a beautiful ass. I want to know exactly where she is on every part of the golf course.’ I would be waiting for my turn to hit, and I’d look over at her. Our eyes locked for a moment, and I smiled. And she smiled back. When I went to the driving range, I saw her there and we started talking—in English!”

“How does she keep you young?”

“More than 50 years since I was born,” Jiménez says, then points a finger southward, “but I’m only 20 down there.”

Miguel Angel Jimenez, ladies and gentlemen. Something tells me his notoriously outrageous pre-round warm-up stretches serve him well away from the course as well.

To sum up the man, the myth, the legend that is Jimenez, here’s a quote from the interview where he recalls missing the cut last month at the Masters.

“I am here with the sun shining, I’m surrounded by friends and family, tonight I will eat good food, drink good wine, smoke a good cigar and make love to my beautiful wife. It’s a good life, no?”

Indeed it is.
