Kevin Love shares post-surgery photo from hospital bed (pic)
Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love may be devastated on the inside in light of the news that he will be out between four to six months after undergoing surgery on his separated left shoulder Wednesday, but he was all smiles in a photograph he posted to Instagram from his hospital bed.
Love was injured during Sunday’s Game 4, series-clinching win over the Boston Celtics when he got tangled up with Kelly Olynyk. It was revealed he suffered extensive damage and initial estimates that he would be able to return at some point during the postseason became moot following surgery.
Love underwent the surgery Wednesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Along with the photo, Love posted the following message on Thursday morning: “Tough break but I woke up feeling great this morning. Thank you everyone for the love and support. #GoCavs.”
It certainly was a devastating blow to both Love and the Cavaliers. And while Cleveland may be able to persevere in its championship quest, Love’s future with the team is somewhat in doubt, given his difficulty acclimating to a diminished role on the team and the fact that it took so long for him to establish some kind of on- and off-the-court rapport with James.
James did say this week that it’s not the time to discuss Love nor his future, so it appears things will remain on hold until at least after the Cavaliers’ postseason run is complete.
It’s worth noting, though, that Love is wearing a Cleveland Indians hat in the photograph, right? That has to signify something, right? Unless it doesn’t.
