Montreal bar creates Stanley Cup replica out of 22 pounds of bacon (pics)
The Stanley Cup Playoffs begin this week and to celebrate the arrival at last of NHL postseason play following an entertaining 82-game marathon season, a bar in Montreal constructed a replica of Lord Stanley’s Cup made entirely out of bacon.
Make that 22 pounds of bacon.
The Montreal establishment behind the 20-plus-pound bacon behemoth is Bar Brutus, a bar known for its heavily bacon-focused menu. Co-owner Anthoni Jodoin told Huffington Post Canada that the inedible paean to porky goodness will be on display throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Given the bar’s location, a majority of the patrons visiting the eatery throughout the NHL postseason are hoping they can enjoy a deep run in the playoffs by the Montreal Canadiens, who begin their pursuit of hoisting the Cup with a first-round match-up against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.
There have been several replicas of the Stanley Cup created entirely out of foodstuffs — the Stanley Cupcake is a solid entry, although the “Manley Cup,” made out of 35 pounds of meat is not too shabby, either — but one made out of bacon? That tops the list.
