Robert Griffin III on name of first child if it’s a boy: ‘It will be RG4’
Robert Griffin III and his wife Rebecca are expecting their first child. The Washington Redskins quarterback recently said if the impending bundle of joy is a boy, he will be named in similar fashion to his father.
“If it’s a boy, it will be a 4th,” Griffin said during an appearance ” Fox News Sunday” that will air this weekend. “It will be RG4.”
Griffin has been maintaining a relatively low profile during the offseason, hasn’t posted on social media since announcing his wife’s pregnancy on Instagram in February. Being embroiled in a seemingly endless discussion about his relationship with Redskins head coach Jay Gruden, it appears he’s doing his best to not be seen or heard. At least not much.
“It’s not about talking about it; it’s about being about it,” Griffin said during an appearance Tuesday on “Redskins Nation,” as quoted by D.C. Sports Bog. “That’s what my goal is this whole offseason. You gotta talk small, play big, take care of the little things so the big things fall into place.”
Griffin reportedly will again this year hold workouts in Florida with the team’s receiving corps, so it appears he’s willing to put the work in to demonstrate to the coaching staff that he’s not giving up his starting spot without a fight. Despite evidence to the contrary, Gruden recently insisted that the starting quarterback job is Griffin’s job to lose.
RG3 weighed in on his relationship with his coach recently as well.
“We both want to win,” Griffin said. “That’s just the bottom line. Jay, he came in here with a plan to help develop me as a quarterback, help this team win, and help this organization be a consistent winner.”
And to hear it from the seemingly embattled signal-caller, everything he is doing now and throughout the offseason is for one purpose only: To win football games.
“We’re going to win,” Griffin said. “That’s all we can do. That’s our only focus.”
And if that doesn’t pan out, at least there’s a chance he might have a little RG4 to cheer him up.
