For all intents and purposes, Minnesota Timberwolves young pup Andrew Wiggins is a virtual lock to win the NBA Rookie of the Year. Still, as teams are wont to do, the T’Wolves are engaging in a promotional campaign on behalf of their budding superstar to boost his R.O.Y. prospects.

And how are the Wolves doing that? By sending out pairs of socks, naturally.

The Timberwolves reportedly are sending out 160 pairs of these bad boys to media members and Rookie of the Year voters.

The socks, featuring Wiggins slamming home a dunk, include the message, “Dynamic rookie Andrew Wiggins has knocked your socks off all season long with his standout numbers and electrifying moves. Here’s a fresh pair on us.”

Well played, but arguably not as well as Wiggins has played in his rookie campaign. His scoring average of 16.5 points per game and average minutes played (35.8 per game) lead all rookies by a considerable margin. The 20-year-old — who ended up in Minnesota as a result of the trade that sent Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers — also is contributing 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game as well.

While Chicago Bulls power forward Nikola Mirotic and Philadelphia 76ers center Nerlens Noel warrant consideration for Rookie of the Year, Wiggins is almost a slam dunk to win the award. And if there was any doubt in the minds of voters, a pair of socks certainly will seal the deal. Right?
