Have the new jerseys and helmets for the Browns been leaked? (pics)

While knowledgeable individuals downplay the notion, photographs that recently have been leaked online purportedly reveal the new uniforms and helmets for the Cleveland Browns.

Browns wide receiver Brian Hartline on Monday posted an image on Instagram (above) of what appears to be an updated Browns helmet along with the cryptic message, “Getting closer…”

Another image of the presumed but unconfirmed new helmet also surfaced on Twitter in mid-March and there are slight differences between the two “leaked” helmets.

A report from Northeast Ohio Media Group’s Joey Morona arrives at a skeptical conclusion at best when it comes to the likelihood that the image posted by Hartline is in fact the Browns’ new helmet, but also doesn’t complete discount the possibility.

The report does note, however, that posters on reddit have argued the chin strap featured on the helmet in Hartline’s pic is not used by the NFL. Not only that, redditors have pointed out the font used for “BROWNS” does not match the lettering style previously announced by the team.

Additional supposed leaks also have surfaced in recent days on social media.

Whether or not these are the actual new uniforms and jerseys for the Browns arguably will be a moot point soon enough given the team will be hosting an “Orange Carpet Event” on April 14 at the Cleveland Convention Center during which the updates will be officially unveiled.

Browns president Alec Scheiner previously indicated, despite the lukewarm response to the initial teases, that “more radical” changes are in store and that the redesigns “move the uniform farther ahead than the logo.” We’ll have to wait and see.
