Kentucky Wildcats fan gets ’40-0 National Champs 2015′ tattoo (photos)
In a trend that is becoming as clichéd and commonplace as an athlete guaranteeing victory ahead of a big game, another clearly devoted sports fan has gotten a tattoo proclaiming that their favorite team is about to experience championship glory.
The latest instance of the championship tattoo craze comes from Rock Wright, a die-hard Kentucky Wildcats fan who is so sure the basketball team is assured of a perfect season and a national title, he got it inked into his leg.
The tattoo features a Wildcat clawing through the Kentucky logo with the message “40-0” above and “National Champs 2015” below.
Gotta support the team.
The Wildcats’ road to a national title and undefeated season obviously have better odds now than, say, if Wright would have had the tattoo done at the beginning of the season. But Kentucky nevertheless have a tough road to navigate just to get to the national championship game, much less win it.
The report notes that Louisville fans told him not to get the tattoo, but insists their advice stemmed from jealously. Fair enough.
Despite his expressed inked confidence in the Wildcats cutting down the nets at the conclusion of the 2015 March Madness, Wright, a resident of Louisville’s Portland neighborhood, mentioned he is allowing himself some wiggle room should the heavy favorite Wildcats fail to finish the season undefeated with a national championship.
“It’s highly unlikely, but there’s always that little bitty chance and I could change it to a 12, ‘cause I know you all remember us winning in 2012. Otherwise, I got seven more championships before that so I got a lot of options,” he told Wave 3 News.
At least Wright has a solid and sensible contingency plan in place, much like this Cubs fan, who had the good sense to leave his predictive championship tattoo some room for future alterations. Hopefully, this guy and this guy and this guy and this guy had similar ideas, as their respective boastful tattoo predictions didn’t pan out for them.
After all, rarely does it happen that folks who get title tattoos make out like this Seahawks fan.
As far as the Wildcats’ march to March glory is concerned, their quest for a national title begins Thursday night as the Midwest’s No. 1 seed takes on No. 16 Hampton Pirates at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. Maybe Wright will be in attendance.
