Dustin Johnson’s newborn son rocks great shirt praising dad’s golf game (pic)

Dustin Johnson, after a stretch of professional and personal turmoil during a lengthy leave of absence from professional golf, appears to be hitting his stride after winning the WGC-Cadillac Championship over the weekend. Everything going on in Johnson’s life indicates things are going tremendously well for the big-hitting PGA Tour star both on and off the course. And not surprisingly, it begins and ends with his newborn son and fiancée Paulina Gretzky.

Following a win at Trump National Doral Blue Course that signified his triumphant return to the Tour since walking away from the game last summer to take care of “personal issues,” Johnson is back in the top 10 of the world golf rankings and has become one of the favorites at the upcoming Masters at Augusta National.

But Johnson clearly recognizes that if things aren’t right in his personal life, his golf career will suffer. And he can thank his new family for his  new-found perspective, illustrated by the golfer saying that seeing Gretzky and son Tatum, who was born in January, was “the best part of the day for sure.”

Gretzky reciprocated the kind words from her fiancé by posting a photo of little Tatum showcasing how the newborn is his daddy’s No. 1 fan.

What a fantastic shirt. And let’s be honest, for the most part, the sentiments contained on it are entirely accurate. It’s not the first time Johnson’s son has donned something proclaiming his loyalty to his dad, as evidenced by this photo also posted by Gretzky.

Johnson obviously had to endure a lot of turmoil to arrive at this stage in his life, both personally and professionally. He announced last July he was taking a leave of absence from the PGA Tour amid rumors that he was struggling with substance abuse. Additional reports at the time suggested that Johnson was not taking a leave but instead was secretly serving a suspension for allegedly testing positive for cocaine, an accusation he vehemently denies to this day.

But in the end, realizing just how well he has come out of everything and how good things are now, Johnson arguably wouldn’t want it any other way. And if for some reason any doubts creep in, all he has to do is take a look at his son in that great shirt.
