Fan gets ‘Nationals World Series Champs 2015′ tattoo (photo)
Suffice to say, Bryce Harper approves.
Pete Johnson, a 29-year-old Washington Nationals fan and D.C. area attorney, succumbed to peer pressure on Sunday when a pal he was out on a stroll with opened up a door to a tattoo parlor and suggested, “Why don’t we do something stupid?”
Something that has become a trend in sports fandom of late, said “stupid” idea ultimately involved getting a tattoo proclaiming that one’s favorite team is in line to win a world championship.
A short time later — Johnson said it took less than a half-hour with a minimal amount of pain — exited the tattoo shop with a “Nationals World Series Champs 2015” inked into the top of his foot.
Johnson told D.C. Sports Bog that he wanted to the tattoo to resemble something that he had casually written on his foot and “forgot to wash it off.” Mission accomplished.
And like the above-mentioned Bryce Harper, the Nationals young and brash slugger, Johnson believes the pieces are in place for the Nats to finally do some damage in the postseason, and not simply winning a single playoff series but actually going all the way and winning it all.
“I think they might [freaking] do it this year,” Johnson told the Bog. “And if they don’t, I think I left a little room to have 2015 crossed out and make it 2016.”
At least he has a solid and sensible contingency plan in place. Hopefully this guy and this guy and this guy and this guy have made the same alterations, as their respective boastful tattoo predictions didn’t pan out for them.
After all, rarely does it happen that folks who get title tattoos make out like this Seahawks fan.
But hey, at least this Cubs fan had the good sense to leave his predictive championship tattoo some wiggle room.
