Russell Wilson catches flak for saying he enjoyed ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

It is well-known that Russell Wilson is a deeply religious individual with strongly held Christian beliefs, even suggesting that God played a role in the manner in which the Seattle Seahawks were forced to stage a monumental comeback in the team’s victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.

With that in mind, along with the haters who criticize him for his beliefs, Wilson likely attracts a lot of like-minded folks on social media who share a similar belief system.

Wilson apparently ran afoul of those who ascribe to his religious views by taking a sneak preview on Thursday night of one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

The Seahawks signal-caller took to Twitter to acknowledge he saw the film while giving a brief review of the controversial flick.

The notion that a deeply Christian person would ever watch such a film clearly offended some of Wilson’s followers on Twitter, a few who took him to task for daring to attend a screening of “Fifty Shades of Grey” and actually referring to it as a great movie.

Among the comments tweeted in reaction to Wilson’s tweet:

Wow….that’s sad

I’m more than a little confused, Russell. I thought you professed to be a Christian. And yes, I’m judgmental (John 7:24).

Wait, I thought Russell was AGAINST domestic violence…

dammit Russ

doesnt seem the sort of film a godbotherer should be watching?

Suffice to say, Wilson felt compelled to reply to his critics.

And then, in a comment that somehow is both serious and and lighter in tone…

Wait. What?
