Hannah Davis defends Swimsuit Issue cover, celebrates with beau Derek Jeter
After the announcement that rocketed the modeling career of Hannah Davis into yet another stratosphere, the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl had her high-profile boyfriend on-hand over the weekend for a low-key celebration at a steakhouse in New York’s theater district.
Page Six sources tell the gossip page that Derek Jeter attended a small get-together with Davis along with family and friends at the Fish & Hunt Club on Saturday night. The retired big league superstar and über-supermodel reportedly entered the eatery separately.
Davis’ provocative pose on the cover has been the source of controversy with some contending it is far too risqué due to way the model is suggestively pulling down her bikini bottom lower than where it would usually sit.
Davis was asked about the controversial cover during an appearance Monday on “TODAY.” The model defended the cover, suggesting that some are reading far too much into the photograph.
“Well, I think you’re making it look a lot naughtier than it really is, to be honest,” Davis told Matt Lauer, via E! Online.
In fact, Davis intimated that Sports Illustrated attempts to change things up and that is why the pose features her in a bikini-bottom tug-down.
“I think SI always tried to do something a little different every year and I think this year it’s the year of the torso,” she explained.
Davis added it was “overwhelming” to learn she landed the highly coveted cover.
“I was blindsided by the whole thing,” she claimed.
One Page Six “Spy” noted that Davis, dressed demurely for Saturday’s dinner outing, doesn’t need to be stripped-down to attract attention.
“Hannah is breathtakingly beautiful. Even dressed in jeans and a sweater, she had the dining room buzzing,” the source said. “While men were talking about Hannah, the women were excited to get a glimpse of ‘Captain Clutch.’”
Speaking of Jeter, as far as Saturday’s relatively low-key event to celebrate with family and friends are concerned, the event was in stark contrast to the whirlwind media frenzy that followed Thursday’s much ballyhooed announcement on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” something that surely is much more in line with Jeter’s preference for privacy. At the same time, the retired Yankee allegedly was spotted partying with 30 “model-like” women at a New York hot spot in December, so there you go.
But it cannot be understated that Jeter, already a Lothario of legendary proportions — a Casanova of celebrity conquests, if you will — is now dating the Sports Illustrated “Swimsuit Issue” cover girl.
Just another feather in Jeter’s lady-killing cap.
