Durant didn’t take too kindly to Chris Palmer criticizing the Thunder’s decision to sign Nick Collison to a multi-year contact extension, calling the former ESPN NBA writer a “dumbass” for his critique.

And Durant’s response:

Palmer replied to Durant’s dig by crediting the Thunder star for supporting and defending one of his teammates but also suggesting that Durant apparently is misinformed about his so-called dismissal.

As noted by Deadspin, Palmer, after 15 years working for The Worldwide Leader in Sports, was no longer an employee of ESPN after his contract ran out in July, 2013. Palmer is known as a polarizing figure in sportswriting who often became the object of criticism for his questionably unorthodox takes on the NBA.

Durant previously had a social media run-in with Palmer after the sportswriter tweeted out his list of the NBA’s smartest players (here and here) last summer. When asked about Palmer, Durant made the following observation (via Black Sports Online).
