Victoria’s Secret teases Super Bowl ad with ‘Don’t Drop the Ball’ promo (video)
Victoria’s Secret on Wednesday released a teaser video in advance of the lingerie retail giant’s commercial that will premiere during Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1.
The spot, entitled, “Don’t Drop the Ball,” is just a shade under 90 seconds and features several Victoria’s Secret models, all outfitted in full football gear, fittingly tossing around the old pigskin.
The teaser provides for a build-up to the premiere of the official commercial, slated to air during the 4th quarter of the game. The commercial centers around the company’s annual push ahead of Valentine’s Day, the company’s most important time of year in terms of sales behind Christmas.
“The Super Bowl is the single best opportunity for Victoria’s Secret to remind a global audience that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner,” said Victoria’s Secret CEO Sharen Jester Turney, via Ad Age.
As is the case with the “Don’t Drop the Ball” promo, the 30-second Super Bowl spot will feature models, Candice Swanepoel, Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima, among others.
Lima of course is no stranger to highly anticipated Super Bowl commercials, not to mention well-received World Cup spots as well.
It will be the first time Victoria’s Secret has entered the highly competitive and absurdly expensive Super Bowl commercial fray since 2008 and the third time the company has produced a Super Bowl ad.
