Redskins players Bashaud Breeland, Andre Roberts brawl at practice (video)
The devolution of the Washington Redskins took another spin further into an inescapable downward spiral Wednesday as cornerback Bashaud Breeland and receiver Andre Roberts got into a brawl where some furious punches were thrown after the two were matched up in a one-on-one drill.
According to CSN Washington’s reporting on the brouhaha, Breeland was covering Roberts on a deep ball from Colt McCoy. After both players crashed to the ground following the incomplete pass, Breeland grabbed his crotch with both hands.
The two future combatants returned to the sideline following the play, and that’s when things got out of control, as punches were thrown by both players after Roberts got in Breeland’s face.
The two tangled until teammates, including Ryan Clark, E.J. Biggers and Ryan Grant, put an end to the fisticuffs.
The Redskins are in the midst of an absolute nightmare of a season. From top to bottom, dysfunction permeates the organization. From the mishandling of the quarterback position, beginning and ending with the public reprimand of Robert Griffin III by head coach Jay Gruden — a misstep for which he ultimately apologized — to the QB’s ultimate and unceremonious benching, things have gone horribly in every conceivable way this season for the 3-10 Washington football club. This ugly brawl won’t help quell the notion that the team is coming apart at the seams.
