Chris Rock refers to Ben Roethlisberger as ‘the original Cosby’ (video)

Comedian Chris Rock dug back deep into an NFL player’s sordid past to deliver a potshot intended to amuse an audience filled with members of a rival team’s fan base.

Rock, in Baltimore for a promotional appearance for his new movie, “Top Five,” was appearing in front of a pro-Baltimore Ravens crowd when he unleashed a savage zinger about Ben Roethlisberger that Pittsburgh Steelers likely would find mean-spirited at best, uncalled for at worst.

In discussing Roethlisberger, Rock characterized the Steelers signal-caller at “the original [Bill] Cosby,” via the Baltimore Sun, eliciting groans and laughter from the audience.

“That’s horrible, that’s gonna go everywhere,” Rock conceded after delivering the shot.

The dig played well considering the crowd. Know your audience, obviously.

Rock of course is making reference to how Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault on two separate occasions.

In 2009, a civil suit was filed Nevada District Court alleging that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted an executive casino host in his Lake Tahoe hotel room in 2008 while attending a charity golf tournament. No criminal charges were filed.

And in 2010, Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault inside the women’s restroom in a Georgia bar. Following a police investigation, Roethlisberger was not charged in the incident.

Roethlisberger was suspended for the first six games of the 2010 NFL season by Roger Goodell for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Likening the Steelers quarterback to Bill Cosby stems from the litany of sexual assault and other improprieties allegedly perpetrated by the comedian throughout his Hollywood career.
