Tom Brady has good laugh over notion he was being led around sideline on ‘leash’
With a few days between a hard-fought 26-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was in the mood to have a chuckle or two over some of the events that transpired during the game, in particular how folks equated the resistance band he was using on the sidelines to the QB being led around with a leash.
“Oh man. That’s just … a leash … it’s a resistance band,” Brady said, laughing, on WEEI’s “Dennis and Callahan Show” during his weekly interview, via ESPN.com. “I was just trying to stay warm and that helps me stay really warm. It’s a great exercise to do.
“When I’m out there in the game, I don’t get a lot of chance to run around, like the receivers who are running the whole game. So I just like to stay really loose, as loose as I can in inclement weather. So that’s what that was for.”
The image of Brady utilizing the band in order to stay loose and limber during a chilly Sunday in Green Bay almost instantly became whimsical fodder for wisenheimers on social media, including some pretty clever Photoshops further likening the band to some kind of leash and Brady as a canine.
“A leash; that’s pretty good,” Brady finished up his commentary on the topic, apparently while having a good laugh over it. And really, after admirably going toe-to-toe with Aaron Rodgers — arguably the best player in the NFL at the moment — and coming up just short, what else can Brady but have a good chuckle?
Then again, Brady arguably deserves a bit of ribbing over the sight. After all, this is the same guy who once rocked a spiked dog collar for a 2012 magazine photo shoot:
It all makes sense now.
