DeSean Jackson gets custom Redskins cake to celebrate 28th birthday (photos)

Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson took some time away from agonizing over a nightmare season for he and his teammates Monday to celebrate his 28th birthday.

While the switch from Robert Griffin III to Colt McCoy on Sunday at the quarterback position did little to stem the team’s continuing downward spiral into inept dysfunction as Washington was blown out by the Indianapolis Colts 49-27, Jackson nevertheless paid tribute to his team by celebrating his birthday with a Redskins-themed cake … a cake he proceeded to appear to lick during some festivities a few nights earlier…

Apparently, that’s where his slice will be cut from the fancy cake. Jackson wrote on Instagram: Celebrating 28 years of Life !!!! Blessed to be able to continue to be Blessed with this Lifestyle !! Ima live it up !! Shoutout @Pro_Cakes for my birthday cake”!!! #0ne0fone”

Indeed. A lifestyle afforded by the Redskins shelling out $24 million over three years to retain the services of the incredibly talented wide receiver.

When put in that perspective, it makes perfect sense to pay tribute to the Redskins with a team-themed cake, despite the nightmarish season the squad has endured.

Jackson also added on Instagram in the above photo to acknowledge both his b-day and the fact he didn’t suffer a serious injury during Sunday’s game: “Cake day Lik Waaaaaaat !! Happy born Day 2 Myself !! Don’t worry bout that injury YALL ima Bounce bac !! Blessed it’s nothin serious .. No broke Bones .. Ima b bac out there fightin !! No quit In Me !!”

As far as his Instagram posts Monday in celebration of his birthday, at least everyone understands the meaning and purpose behind them, unlike the cryptic message he posted a few weeks back in which Jackson appeared to take a shot at RG3, something he later denied.

After a plea from Jackson’s mother to the team on Twitter to acknowledge her son’s birthday, the Redskins complied, showing affection for Jackson in the same manner he showed affection for his team courtesy of the cake.

Very nice.

If one had to guess, it’s possible that Jackson used his birthday wish to ask for a few more wins for Washington. But even the presumed magic inherent to such an annual request lacks the necessary power when dealing with the woeful Redskins.
