Jets bench Michael Vick, Geno Smith to start against Dolphins
After reports indicated that Rex Ryan was leaning toward starting Michael Vick — pending his health (he is nursing ankle and wrist injuries) — as starter for the New York Jets’ Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins, the team announced via its official Twitter account that Geno Smith will instead be under center on “Monday Night Football.”
QB Update: Rex met with Geno Smith & Mike Vick this morning and told the QBs that Geno will get the start vs. MIA on Monday Night.

With the Jets in the midst of a disastrous 2-9 season, which quarterback starts next week — or the week after next and so on — will do little to change the presumption that head coach Rex Ryan already is being pushed out the door as the team yet again has failed to perform under his leadership.
As far as the quarterback position is concerned, neither Vick nor Smith have performed excedingly well during their appearances as Jets signal-caller.
In the team’s 38-3 blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills, Vick was benched after a woeful performance, going 7-19 for 76 yards, with 1 interception while being buried under five sacks. Smith, in replacing him in the third quarter, was marginally better, albeit in a mop-up role, going 10-12 passing for 89 yards while being sacked twice.
Smith previously was benched with Vick replacing him in a Week 8 loss to the same Bills after the second-year player threw three straight interceptions.
There may be a revolving door at the QB position with the Jets, but in the end, it will in all likelihood be a lot more of the same.
