Cam Newton’s third annual ‘Thanksgiving Jam’ feeds 800 underprivileged kids (video)
Even though the season for the Carolina Panthers (3-7-1) hasn’t gone exactly as planned, Cam Newton continued his stellar work related to community outreach by hosting the third edition of an extra-special event during the week of Thanksgiving.
“Cam’s Thanksgiving Jam” on Tuesday night welcomed 800 underprivileged to an event featuring a good meal and some great times with the Panthers quarterback.
Per Black and Blue Review, the stats from “Cam’s Thanksgiving Jam” were as follows:
- 3rd annual
- 2,500 lbs of food
- 75 turkeys
- 500 lbs of potatoes
- Over 50 volunteers
- Over 800 underprivileged kids served
- Over 800 take-home bags full of canned goods, a chicken and a pie
Kudos to Newton for recognizing that while he’s suffering through a rough season, things could be a lot worse. Putting on events such as these certainly help keep things in perspective for these professional athletes.
The Panthers travel to take on the Minnesota Vikings Sunday. Shockingly, despite the team’s awful record, Carolina remains in the hunt for a divisional title in the terrible NFC South. That’s something for which Newton should be thankful.
