Channing Frye on Magic: ‘We’re close to winning, but that’s still f—ing losing’ (video)
After running off consecutive victories last week, the Orlando Magic have dropped two straight games, dropping the team to 2-6.
Especially painful was how the Magic lost to the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. Orlando held a double-digit lead heading into the final quarter but were felled by a 32-17 run in the fourth, ultimately losing 104-100.
According to Magic big man Channing Frye, who scored 19 points in the game, a loss is a loss is a loss, no matter how a team arrives at it.
“We’re close to winning, but that’s still f—ing losing,” Frye said, putting the outcome of Tuesday’s game in its proper, if profane, perspective.

Frye arrived in Orlando, signing a four-year, $32 million deal after opting out of his contract with the Phoenix Suns, who were 48-34 last season.
Frye did see some lean years in Phoenix when wins didn’t come easily, but he clearly isn’t accustomed to the kind of losing the Magic seem to be making a habit early on this season.
Looking at Orlando’s prospects for turning losable games into winners, however, doesn’t look good or provide much hope for Frye. In short, he better get used to losing in the short run.
