Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski on great grab: ‘How the f*** did you catch that?’ (vid)
The impressive output by the New England Patriots offense during the team’s 43-21 dismantling of the Denver Broncos on Sunday was highlighted by several great plays, but none not more impressive than the amazing one-handed catch by Rob Gronkowski on a ball thrown high and behind by Tom Brady to the all-world tight end.
When asked about the great grab later, Brady heaped praise upon Gronk.
“Incredible. That was one of the best catches I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t get any better than that,” Brady said, via CBS Boston.
Gronkowski, meanwhile, played it cool as a cucumber when asked about the catch.
It was a pretty good catch. Tom put it where I could make that play, so it just happened,” Gronkowski said nonchalantly. “It’s just a reaction – going to the ball, when you see the ball, you want to go for it, so it’s just a natural reaction to go get it, so it ended up being a one-handed, so it was pretty cool.”
When asked to rate the catch, Gronk deferred to the so-called experts.
“It was a good catch,” he said. “You guys can do the rating of it. Just trying to make plays and as many as possible when my number is called.”
Despite Gronkowski attempting to downplay the impressiveness of it all, Brady was dumbfounded by the grab immediately afterward. So blown away, in fact, that the Patriots signal-caller had no choice but to drop an f-bomb while articulating his amazement.
Brady was mic’d up for the game, and “Inside the NFL” had the dialogue exchanged between quarterback and tight end after the highlight reel-worthy play.
It’s hard to argue with Brady’s assessment, that’s for sure.
