Predators coach Peter Laviolette drilled by puck, gets stitched up, returns (video)
In the umpteenth example illustrating that some of the toughest guys in professional sports are involved in hockey, Nashville Predators head coach Peter Laviolette showed that getting hit by a puck above the right eye and needing stitches would not be enough to keep him off the bench.
Laviolette was caught on the noggin by puck that glanced off the glove of Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba on a clearing attempt and into the Preds’ bench area … and then off the coach’s forehead.
The puck-to-the-head occurred late in the first period. The shot wobbled Laviolette for a moment, but he kept on coaching. After getting stitched up during intermission, Laviolette was back on the bench at the start of the second period.
Tough as nails, these hockey guys. And it’s not only the players in the NHL, either. Head coaches, assistants, referees, team announcers, you name it. These guys can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.
