Alexander Ovechkin, Urban Cowboy, everyone (photo)

The Washington Capitals are in the midst of a three-game sojourn up Canada way. After a 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night, the team packed up and headed to the frontier town of Calgary for a Saturday night showdown with the Flames.

Taking to heart the saying, “When in Rome…”, Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov elected to hit the downtown “Cowtown” — a real nickname of Calgary — Thursday night and paint it country by getting all gussied up like real life, Canadian cowboys.

From the rodeo-ready cowboy hat up top to the buffalo chip-kickin’ boots on their feet, Ovi and Evgeny look like the Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne had the duo ended up in Calgary instead of Aspen in “Dumb and Dumber.”

A regular pair of “Urban Cowboys” if we’ve ever laid our dusty trail-weary eyes on a pair of countrified city slickers. Now all we need to complete the picture is a little of the Johnny Lee classic, “Lookin’ for Love.”

Yes, “Urban Cowboy” actually was a movie starring John Travolta. It was terrible. But “Lookin’ for Love” is a solid track.

Here’s a photo of Cowboy Ovechkin, Justin Peters, Chris Brown, Brooks Orpik livin’ it up while hitting up single bars and playin’ a fool’s game, hopin’ to win, and tellin’ those sweet lies and losin’ again.

Yep, Johnny Lee lyrics. Yeah.

In all seriousness, that is about as ridiculous as Ovechkin has ever looked.

Wait … on second thought
