Katy Perry will be the celebrity guest picker on ‘College GameDay’ on Saturday

If the Twitter activity of pop goddess Katy Perry proves to be accurate, the bombshell songstress will be sidling up her sultry self next to Chris Fowler, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit on Saturday to be the celebrity guest picker on ESPN’s “College GameDay.”

The “GameDay” gang invades the campus of the University of Mississippi this weekend for the first time for the highly anticipated showdown between the Ole Miss Rebels and the Alabama Crimson Tide. The rumored arrival of Perry is only going to heighten the buzz.

The belief that Perry will hang out with the fellas all began when Herbstreit floated the idea on Twitter, a tweet that Perry replied to shortly thereafter.

There you have it. An ESPN PR wonk later confirmed that Perry will indeed be “One of the Boys” — heh — and will make an appearance on set.

No matter what you think of Miss Perry — in the interest of full disclosure, this individual feels no shame in admitting to enjoying the aforementioned “One of the Boys” from time to time — definitely will go over with the fans far better than ESPN’s decision to bring in country-crooner Kenny Chesney.

Either way, this apparently all came together due to a confluence of a couple of coincidences. Perry has a stop on “The Prismatic World Tour” on Saturday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday. And on Sunday, she’ll be at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn., so she’ll be in the general vicinity. Perry’s manager apparently also is an Ole Miss alum. Put it all together and you have Lee Corso creepily salivating all over Katy Perry on the “GameDay” set.

It should make for some interesting signage behind the desk, wouldn’t you think?
