Bryce Harper firefighter helmet shirt to raise money for firefighter charity (photo)
Bryce Harper rocked a pretty awesome fireman’s helmet in the clubhouse a few weeks ago when the Washington Nationals clinched the National League East.
It turned out that Harper was fortunate enough to have a couple of D.C. firefighters agree to create a custom-made helmet for him, personalized with his name and jersey number, after he reached out on Twitter to the city’s firefighters.
And now it looks like Harper’s unique choice in headgear as spawned something that will not only raise awareness of a worthwhile charity but raise much-needed funds for it as well.
Pretty awesome, right?
The above shirt celebrating Harper’s helmet has been created and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the DC Firefighters Burn Foundation.
The foundation, created in 2004, is comprised of both active and retired firefighters. It’s goal is to assist “in the recovery and rehabilitation of injured firefighters and burn patients in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area,” per a D.C. Sports Bog report.
The shirt retails for $21.99 and is available for purchase at both the official online shop of the Washington Nationals as well as at MLB.com’s online store. It comes both in men’s and women’s cuts.
It’s funny how a thing like Harper’s helmet that can seem so innocuous — even silly — can actually inspire something positive.
