Infographic: Recalling David Ortiz’s two walk-off winners in the 2004 ALCS
Few players have come along in the vast history of MLB postseasons that have defined “clutch” more than David Ortiz. On a two-night stretch in 2004, the “Legend of Big Papi” was further enriched by one of the greatest displays ever of a player rising to the moment and accomplishing the unbelievable.
On Oct. 17 of 2004, with the Boston Red Sox down three games to none to the hated New York Yankees, Ortiz stepped to the plate and hit a walk-off home run. And then on Oct. 18, a walk-off single from Big Papi got the BoSox right back into the series, a series they would ultimately, and unbelievably, win.
Here’s Big Papi showcasing his flair for the dramatic to close out that legendary Game 4.
Coverage of the Division Series returns to FOX Sports for the first time since 2006, with FOX Sports 1 set to air eight of 10 National League Division Series games.
