Mets writer tweets that Mets haven’t balked all year, Mets balk minutes later

The New York Mets are playing a Thursday afternoon matinee game against the Washington Nationals in D.C. on Thursday.

Anthony DiComo, the Mets beat writer for MLB.com, was taking in the game from the press box and decided to pass the time by passing along a little-yet-interesting nugget about an odd statistic from yet another underwhelming Mets season.

You’ll never guess what happened next.

Yep. Mets pitcher Dillon Gee had himself a balk. Crazy.

DiComo had a little fun with it on Twitter afterward.

And finally, the tweet he sent out immediately after the crazy coincidence (if that is what it was):

Awesome. Can’t blame him for trying, right? Perhaps DiComo is on to something. Maybe the stars are aligned just right, the moon is in the 7th House and Jupiter is aligned with Mars and so on and so forth. Maybe, just maybe, DiComo will see that $1 million from the Mets. Doubtful, yes, but the Mets have spent money more foolishly on many occasions before, why not now?
