Oblivious guy reads Maria Sharapova article with her seated right behind him (pic)

Maria Sharapova was surprisingly knocked out in the third round of the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open on Wednesday, losing in straight sets to Swiss qualifier Timea Bacsinszky, 7-6, 7-5.

The No. 4-ranked Russian star spared no time getting the heck of out Dodge — in this case, China — making haste and booking a flight out of Wuhan.

First class accommodations befitting a superstar, super-wealthy athlete must not have been available, so there Sharapova was, seated with the commoners.

And what should Sharapova see as she sat in her seat but a man seated right in front of her reading a Chinese newspaper article about her. So, Sharapova slyly snapped a photo and tweeted it out along with the message, “Hey buddy, I’m right behind you… :)”

It’s nice to see Sharapova had a sense of humor about the loss instead of fuming over the early exit.

It would be nice to know if the guy ever learned he had one of the world’s most famous athletes seated behind him, an athlete he was just reading about in the paper.

Granted, turning around in a standard airplane seat is darn near impossible, but if Sharapova happened to get up and move about the cabin, chances are slim he wouldn’t have recognized her. It’s hard not to notice and subsequently identify a woman like Sharapova, a statuesque, 6-foot-2 superstar athlete who also happens to be quite fetching. All he had to do then is put two and two together and there you go.
