Boston bar near Fenway Park offering $2 shots in honor of Derek Jeter (photo)

Derek Jeter’s storied career will not end with a tip of the cap and a wave to the crowd at Yankee Stadium as the New York Yankees close out the season with a three-game series at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox.

Whether or not the offer is a gesture of respect to the retiring “Captain” or a token of gratitude that the longtime thorn in Red Sox Nation’s side will finally be leavingĀ  the game — or a little of both — is debatable, what isn’t is that BoSox fans will be able to get good and soused at Game On, a bar located across the street from Fenway, because of Jeter.

Game On is selling shots for $2 all week in “celebration” of “Jeter’s Last Call.” Chances are the general sentiment of Sox fans regarding Jeter’s retirement can be summarized by the old saying, “Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.” But that doesn’t mean the drinkers won’t take advantage of two-buck shots, no matter the individual who inspired the promotion, even if it happens to the most-hated player on their most-hated team.

The only question remains: Is this for any kind of shot, a specific, Derek Jeter-themed shot or something else altogether? Because if it would be awesome if it were a shot created just for the week. Something that possesses notes of bitterness counterbalanced by a sweetness that emerges after the shot is downed. Call it the “2004 ALCS” or something.
