Cam Newton wears lavender jacket, leggings, slippers after loss to Steelers (photos)
The Carolina Panthers where whipped by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, losing in every facet of the game en route to a demoralizing 37-19 home loss.
With running back DeAngelo Williams and receiver Jerricho Cotchery out nursing hamstring injuries, the Panthers offense couldn’t muster much against the aggressive and effective Steelers defense.
Cam Newton, nursing at least a few injuries himself, was mostly ineffective, although his passing numbers were relatively solid, as the Panthers quarterback went 24-35 for 240 yards and a touchdown. But he was harassed all night, getting sacked three times and hit six times.
Newton was not going to allow a disappointing team performance have any effect on his post-game attire, though, as the quarterback stepped to the podium to address the media afterward looking … um … dapper?
It’s hard to find the correct adjective to describe Newton’s post-game ensemble, which consisted of a lavender-ish jacket over a black t-shirt, complimented by tight leggings and slippers, sans socks.
Yeah, it was quite the look. Seriously, those pants are … something.
While arguably not a wardrobe choice that inspires respect and admiration in his teammates — or strike fear in his opponents, for that matter — it certainly pushes the envelope in a fashion sense. Maybe. And that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good thing, either.
