Texas Rangers rookies dress up in silly costumes for tame hazing ritual (photos)

Forcing rookies to dress up in hilarious costumes, often with a feminine twist, has become an annual rite of passage for MLB rookies (see here and here and here), and the first-year players on the Texas Rangers had their turn on Monday.

As the team embarked upon a West Coast trip to play the Oakland Athletics, the rooks proudly showcased their comical outfits.

Rangers veteran Elvis Andrus tweeted a majority of the hilarious images.

Given that the Rangers are cellar dwellers in the AL West with a 57-92 record, not to mention the turmoil caused by the sudden resignation of manager Ron Washington on Sept. 5, it’s good that the guys can still enjoy a laugh while playing out the string in a horribly disappointing season.
