Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s Boston mansion nearing completion (photos)

Lost amid the much more exciting and relevant news of the NFL’s opening weekend — not to mention the news that (gasp) he shaved off his beard (NO!) — comes the news reported over the weekend by the Daily Mail that the lavish mansion New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bundchen presently are building in the Boston area is nearing completion.

The new home, located in Brookline, is of course a palatial and majestic mansion, and no detail or extravagance appears to have been spared during its construction.

The 14,000 square foot, five-bedroom home sits on 5.2 acres and is surrounded by a lush, outlying circle of trees to ensure some semblance of privacy.

According to the Mail’s report, the property “boasts four bathrooms, a motor court, a pool with a Baja shelf, a library with a balcony, a wine cellar and a yoga studio.”

A Baja shelf, even? Sounds pretty fancy schmancy, to be sure, acting as if I knew what a “Baja shelf” was without looking it up.

Some more looks at the mansion and grounds where the Brady Brood will wile away their days in the lap of luxury, presumably while Brady sips on a frozen margarita (as he once put it, “Oh my God”) and Gisele does the Downwar Dog pose in the Yoga studio while wearing Under Armour gear.

Question: Is there a “Time Out for Tommy” room for when Brady throws his self-admitted temper tantrums? Goodness knows there is ample room for one.

Hissy fits and meltdowns aside, Brady and Bundchen sought to make the Boston area their home base after selling their California mansion earlier this year to Dr. Dre for $40 million.

That place had a moat, though. This one does not appear to have such a feature. Perhaps the couple thought it was a wee bit too ostentatious for Boston.

But for Pete’s sake, couldn’t they have added a water slide to the pool? With how much Tommy Boy loves lose things, they could have splurged just a wee bit more and installed one, right?
